Race to Good Health
The video depicts the importance of handwashing to ensure a healthy and bright future of children. It showcases the successful initiatives taken to educate children on benefits and steps of handwashing and provide low cost handwashing infrastructure in schools of Maharashtra. Fostering group handwashing practices, creation of low-cost, durable and child-friendly mass handwashing stations and mobilising SMC and community members to support handwashing initiatives have been depicted as potent strategies to promote handwashing among children.
The video also shows that under the Government’s Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya campaign provision of adequate handwashing and sanitation facilities in the school is necessary. It also recognises that mid-day-meal scheme in schools is an excellent platform to promote handwashing with soap among children. Handwashing is a low-cost, simple and high-impact intervention, which protects children from unseen germs and diseases.
Suggested Audience: Government Officials, parents, caregivers, teachers, children, ANM, ASHA, AWW and other frontline and community outreach workers, SMC members and community members.
