MHM Maharahtra Film (English)

Synopses: The video showcases the successful roll out of Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) interventions in Jalna and Thane districts of Maharashtra. Four key departments namely, Health, ICDS, Education and Swachh Bharat Mission Cell worked together with the support of UNICEF Maharashtra to implement the MHM intervention. Unique and scalable, the intervention aimed at skill building and empowerment of adolescent girls on MHM. The intervention involved creation of a 20 member core group comprising members from the four departments who were trained on MHM through interactive and participatory exercises. This core group further trained 369 trainers who rolled out the intervention by educating girls on menstruation and Menstrual Hygiene Management. The intervention helped in breaking silence around MHM and imparted the requisite knowledge among girls about menstruation. The girls covered under the intervention understood that menstruation is a natural process, menstrual absorbent must be changed three to four times a day and the cloth used as absorbent should be washed properly and then dried at a place where it receives sun and air.
