Synopses: The pocket chart game with the help of visuals shows the ways of maintaining water safety at the household level. The chart game describes common practices which lead to water contamination: • Drawing water from unsafe sources of water • If the toilet is located near the hand pump • Use of unclean utensil for storing the water • Putting hand inside a utensil full of water • Keeping water in an uncovered utensil Consequently some of the do’s to keep in mind to maintain water safety at home include: • Draw water from safe sources • Store water in clean utensils • Keep drinking water covered and at a place above the floor level • While taking out the water, don’t put hands in the utensil • Use a ladle or tap of the utensil for taking out water from the utensil It is important to maintain water safety as contaminated water may cause diseases such as Cholera, Typhoid, Diarrhea and Jaundice. To make contaminated water clean and safe it should be boiled, filtered, alum or chlorine tablets to be used.
